Product Description
The IoT-Based Oxygen and SpO₂ Analyzer is an early medical IoT device developed to address a critical healthcare gap in elderly care and oxygen therapy monitoring. It continuously monitors the oxygen purity from an oxygen concentrator or tank using a medical-grade AO-08 oxygen sensor and simultaneously tracks the patient’s SpO₂ (blood oxygen saturation) and pulse rate through a pulse oximeter module.
If oxygen purity drops, the concentrator malfunctions, or the patient’s SpO₂ levels become abnormal, the device sends immediate alerts via SMS and phone calls to both caretakers and oxygen suppliers. This proactive system helps prevent emergencies, especially for elderly patients reliant on oxygen tanks, where an empty or failing supply can quickly become life-threatening.
The device features a 16x2 LCD display for live readings, internet connectivity (primary) with Bluetooth as backup, and a dedicated Android/iOS app for remote monitoring.
Features
- Continuous detection of oxygen purity (0–100%) using the AO-08 electrochemical sensor
- SpO₂ and pulse rate measurement via integrated pulse oximeter module
- Automatic SMS and call alerts to caretakers and oxygen providers
- Local LCD display for real-time visualization
- Cloud connectivity over internet with Bluetooth fallback
- Android/iOS mobile app for remote access and data visualization
- Helps prevent critical patient desaturation events and oxygen supply failures
Working
- The AO-08 oxygen sensor continuously measures oxygen purity from the concentrator or tank.
- The pulse oximeter module monitors patient SpO₂ and pulse rate.
- A microcontroller gathers sensor data and displays values on the LCD screen.
- Data is transmitted to a cloud server via internet; Bluetooth provides backup if internet fails.
- Alerts are triggered if oxygen purity or patient vitals deviate from safe ranges.
- Caregivers, family members, and oxygen providers receive alerts via SMS/calls and can monitor real-time readings on the mobile app.
Applications
- Elderly Care – Early alerts for empty oxygen tanks, ensuring replacement before critical emergencies.
- Hospitals & Clinics – Secondary safety monitoring for oxygen concentrators and ventilators.
- Home Healthcare – Safe oxygen therapy monitoring for patients outside hospital environments.
- Remote Monitoring – Family or doctors can monitor patient vitals and oxygen supply status from anywhere.
- Oxygen Tank Providers – Receive early notifications to dispatch refills on time.
Benefits
- Provides life-saving early alerts before oxygen supply failure.
- Tracks both machine health (O₂ purity) and patient condition (SpO₂, pulse).
- Ensures peace of mind for families and caregivers.
- Enables remote monitoring via app and cloud integration.
- Designed as a cost-effective IoT solution for home and hospital use.
